Empowering lenders with real-time insights: The future of financial decisioning
At FTT Lending, we had the exciting opportunity to sit down with Matthew Barr, Product Manager – Decisioning Solutions at Moneyhub, to discuss the cutting-edge technologies reshaping the future of lending. Matthew, who previously worked at a lender that was a client of Moneyhub, brings a unique perspective on how the platform’s innovations are helping lenders and borrowers build better, more sustainable financial relationships.
Moneyhub’s innovation lies in its ability to support lenders during the acquisition phase by combining traditional credit reference agency (CRA) data with real-time insights from open banking. This hybrid approach gives lenders a comprehensive and dynamic view of a borrower’s financial landscape—far beyond what bank statements alone could offer. With Moneyhub’s seamless technology, customers can connect their accounts in under two minutes and receive near-instant decisions, helping lenders reach up to 18% more people. It’s a leap forward in both customer experience and financial inclusion.
The impact doesn’t stop at loan origination. Matthew emphasises the importance of building long-term, equitable relationships between lenders and borrowers. By maintaining an open banking connection throughout the loan lifecycle, lenders can proactively support customers during both stable and turbulent times. This creates opportunities for timely product recommendations and, crucially, early intervention when financial difficulty looms, improving outcomes for both parties and aligning with the FCA’s focus on vulnerability identification and responsible lending.
Another exciting frontier Matthew highlights is the evolution of payments. Open banking payments, and particularly variable recurring payments (VRPs), open the door to smarter, more flexible repayment options. Instead of rigid monthly direct debits, customers could pay what they can, when they can, offering a more human approach to financial management. Moneyhub is not just building tools; it’s building trust and adaptability into the very fabric of lending.
