At FTT Payments, Grant Evans, Head of Sales, Integrated & Platforms – UK & EMEA at Global Payments and co-host of The Payments Shed Podcast, shared his perspective on the trends impacting the payments landscape. One of the most significant shifts, he notes, is not entirely new, but still widely underappreciated – the rapid growth of embedded payments. As platforms evolve, many are no longer treating payments as a utility but as a strategic revenue stream, embedding transactional capabilities directly into their ecosystems. This shift is quietly transforming payments from a cost centre into a meaningful driver of bottom-line growth.

When it comes to agentic commerce, Grant described it as ‘presently hype, future game changer’. While the concept is gaining traction across the industry, he highlighted a critical gap between ambition and infrastructure. Scaling agentic commerce globally will require robust safeguards, particularly fraud prevention, before it can deliver on its full promise. For now, the industry is still laying the groundwork, even as the conversation continues to accelerate.
