Tuesday 10 September 2019
by Our Community
Over the Summer season, we here at FinTECHTalents placed several members of our Steering Committee in the hot seat and asked them to comment on some of the major themes we will explore as part of the Festival in November. Find out whether our community feels technology, on its own, can inspire and determine if

Wednesday 12 June 2019
by Liz Lumley
Now that we are deep in Spring conference season – I thought I would update my ever popular #PeopleYouSeeAtConferences list. Now way longer than 10 items. I shall add in a few ‘suggestions from my pals on Twitter and add a few more from my travels around the FinTech universe. The old fogey who remembers

The stories that make up FinTech continue at FinTECHTalents

“I’ve seen more startups do more demos on stage than most people should see in their lifetime,” says Liz Lumley, architect of the FinTECHTalents Festival to Christophe Langiois, CMO of The FinTech Power 50 in an interview at Barclays Rise this spring. However, that first contact, those first stirrings when you listen to a founder
You need your ‘Tech’ in your ‘Fin’ (even if you don’t have to say it) Our community has spoken

How do you disrupt a culture? Tokyo is starting with itself.

Olympic parks have had a chequered history throughout the modern games. Many have been left to rot, some have almost bankrupted their host nations, while others are built on, enhanced and expanded. I am working from a co-working space, housed within the former Press Centre of the 2012 London Summer Games as I type. The

What is your Holiday Wish for 2019?
Wednesday 12 December 2018
by Liz Lumley
It’s that time of year again, when we all get asked to share our ‘predictions’. I always pause when I get asked, because I feel ‘predictions’ are different from ‘wishes’ or ‘actions’. There’s much I ‘predict’, which I don’t wish to come true. So instead of predictions – we at VC innovations – want to

Thursday 22 November 2018
by Liz Lumley
Today is a day of Thanksgiving in the good old US of A. Many Americans will sit down to roast turkey, pumpkin pie and questionable politics. However, you do not need to be ‘American’ to find reasons to be thankful this year. So, let’s cast off worries about Brexit, forgive those times your bank took

The 10 Commandments of an Influencer
Wednesday 10 October 2018
by Liz Lumley
I became an influencer partly through circumstance – I was a journalist – my by line and face are on thousands of news pieces, features, event agendas and videos. However, some of it is by design. I decided to make my opinions and viewpoints public. However, I have an overarching philosophy that I stick to

I had a meeting last year with the PR person for a ‘well-known American payments company’. The founder was due to speak at Money 20/20 Europe. The PR woman was very nice and pleasant – but said something that made me think of a Twitter thread I wrote awhile back, while bored at an event
